CURA: A Literary Magazine of Art and Action is the cornerstone publication of the Creative Writing program at Fordham University, linking the campuses, the undergraduate and graduate programs as well as providing mentorship and service opportunities to students.
Contributors to the magazine have won Rockefeller, Guggenheim, American Book, and National Endowment for the Arts awards and include luminaries such as: Alicia Ostriker, Robert Bly, Carmen Giménez Smith and Evie Shockey. We receive submissions from all over the United States, as well as from Mexico, India, Egypt, Indonesia, France and Austria.
Propose strongly the idea that art, action and social responsibility can and should be inextricably intertwined.
Enable various, engaged reading and creative response to current news events.
Give students valuable real world experience and skills in creating a literary product in alignment with the current rapid changes in literary consumption
